Instructional Systems Design

I.                   Course Description and Knowledge Base

Advanced development of instructional systems design that includes learner, task, and content analysis. Prerequisite: MM 1143. Lecture 2 hours, lab 2 hours.

II.                Specific Learning Objectives:

1.              TLW recognize examples of systems and their components. (Competency 1)

2.              TLW justify a situation as a problem and explain the rational.

3.              TLW classify various types of learning when given examples. (Competency 3)

4.              TLW classify/write examples of different objectives. (Competency 2)

5.              TLW classify types of human learning and detail how the types are related. (Competency 8)

6.              TLW specify learner characteristics that have an impact on specified learning objectives. (Competency 4)

7.              TLW analyze instructional outcomes by identifying the component parts and the sequence of occurrence.

8.              TLW analyze instructional events for appropriateness/effectiveness for designated learning outcomes. (Competency 4)

9.              TLW write sample instructional events for designated learner outcomes. (Competency 7)

10.          TLW specify the appropriate media for designated learner activities. (Competency 5)

11.          TLW identify the most appropriate assessment activity for designated learner outcomes. (Competency 8)

12.          TLW analyze the nature of designated instruction and specify the appropriate theory being used.

13.          TLW specify the most appropriate instructional theory for a designated learner outcome. (Competency 14)
