Multimedia in the Classroom

I.                    Course Description and Knowledge Base

This course includes learning to create multimedia projects using specific authoring or application software found in the classroom such as Director, Flash, Mediator 7, Adobe Audition, Photoshop and other selected computer application programs. There are other application programs that may be tried by students in this class beyond the items above, such as KidPix, Astound, and Leonardo, all multimedia application programs specifically designed for educators. II.                  Specific Learning Objectives

  • Define multimedia as currently implemented in education and training

·         Define all appropriate terms and jargon related to multimedia

·         Describe various multimedia delivery systems

·         Describe necessary hardware requirements for successful delivery and production of multimedia

·         Describe necessary software for the successful delivery and production of multimedia

·         Create text presentation pages based on accepted design and human computer interface standards

·         Describe various animation techniques related to multimedia

·         Describe procedures and implement steps in the planning stage of multimedia

·         Describe procedures and implement steps in the creation stage of multimedia

·         Describe procedures and implement steps in the testing stage of multimedia

·         Describe procedures and rubrics for managing multimedia projects

·         Create computer images optimized for various multimedia presentation systems based on audience

·         Optimize color palettes for effective image presentation on low-resolution multimedia systems

·         Describe various color-mixing systems (palettes) as related to multimedia
