User Communication via the Web

Course Description and Knowledge Base
This course is an exploration
and hands-on practice in the use of software tools for creating websites and
communications resources. It is designed specifically for an educator's use in
communication with students, parents, classes and/or other schools. This course
is geared for classroom teachers and librarians. Credit: Three hours

Specific Learning Objectives:
- Establish a coherent theme for a Website.
- Link and connect appropriate sources of information.
- Demonstrated methods to accommodate individual learner needs for
instruction.
- Show Website management proficiency.
- Use online tools for assessment and evaluation.
- Communicate using Web-based strategies.
- Establish and utilize an individual account on the TWU server. This
account will be used in all assignments and projects.
- Locate and establish collegial connections to a variety of scholars with
your academic interests.
- Demonstrate use of HTML and Web page design, preparing an online
instructional Website for this class.
- Prepare lessons in the teacher's own academic discipline to be taught in
an online environment.
- Describe the organization and communication uses of the WWW.
- Explain the technical differences between graphic material designed for
print and graphic material designed for Web delivery.
- Use basic graphic tools to scan, construct and modify graphics for use
in the web environment.
- Demonstrate the use of cross-platform development techniques that
provide for the delivery of Web content on multiple client platforms.
- Demonstrate knowledge of legal aspects of using Web communication in the
classroom.
- Build a series of Web pages using Frames, Tables, and Image Maps,
delivering multimedia elements.
