Communicating with Websites

I.                   Course Description and Knowledge Base

An exploration and hands-on practice in the use of html and software tools for creating Websites and communications resources. Designed specifically for the individual teacher’s use in communication with students, parents, classes and/or other schools. Course will make maximum use of laboratory setting on campus. This course is for classroom teachers.

II.                Specific Learning Objectives:

1.              Establish a coherent theme for a Website. (Competency 1)

2.              Link and connect appropriate sources of information.

3.              Demonstrated methods to accommodate individual learner needs for instruction. (Competency 3)

4.              Show Website management proficiency.

5.              Use online tools for assessment and evaluation. (Competency 8)

6.              Communicate using Web-based strategies. (Competency 6)

7.              Establish and utilize an individual account on the Cameron Wolverine server at Cameron University. This account will be used in all assignments and projects.

8.              Locate and establish collegial connections to a variety of scholars with your academic interests. (Competency 10)

9.              Demonstrate use of HTML and Web page design, preparing an online instructional Website for this class.

10.          Prepare lessons in the teacher’s own academic discipline to be taught in an online environment. (Competency 1)

11.          Describe the organization and communication uses of the WWW. (Competency 6)

12.          Explain the technical differences between graphic material designed for print and graphic material designed for Web delivery.

13.          Use basic graphic tools to scan, construct and modify graphics for use in the web environment.

14.          Demonstrate the use of cross-platform development techniques that provide for the delivery of Web content on multiple client platforms. (Competency 4)

15.          Demonstrate knowledge of legal aspects of using Web communication in the classroom. (Competency 13)

16.          Build a series of Web pages using Frames, Tables, and Image Maps, delivering multimedia elements. (Competency 7)
